BBL Laser Treatments

BBL treats the most common visible signs of sun damage and aging, such as redness, hyperpigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles.

BBL overview

BroadBand Light (BBL™) technology uses the power of intense pulsed light to deliver exceptional results in photorejuvenation therapy. Your provider can treat a broad range of skin conditions caused by aging and sun exposure.

What to Expect in a BroadBand Light (BBL) Treatment

A series of passes over the skin with the BBL device as the device applies light flashes to the skin. The light penetrates your skin to damage the pigment, tissue or blood vessels. Your body will work to repair the damage — reducing the appearance of the discoloration or wrinkles.BBL treatment is not a laser treatment. It uses intense pulsed light instead of the more focused light of a laser. Laser treatments are a single wavelength, while BBL uses a broad spectrum of light that we can filter several different ways to treat different conditions. It also treats a larger area of skin than a laser.

How long does a BBL treatment take?

A BBL treatment takes about 15 minutes.

What does BBL treat?

It can also reduce the appearance of freckles and birthmarks. The treatment can be performed on all body areas, such as the face, neck, chest, arms and hands.

Who Can Have BBL Treatment?

BBL works best on lighter skin tones. Darker skin tones should avoid BBL, as the darker pigment absorbs too much light that can actually cause dark spots (hyperpigmentation) to appear. Most patients in Wisconsin do not have treatment during summer months because of tan skin. They typically have three treatments a year in October, January and right before summer. At your initial consultation, our experts will review your treatment goals and examine your skin. We help you put together the treatment plan that is best for your skin tone and lifestyle.

Recovery after BBL

BBL treatment requires little to no downtime. Patients can return to their normal lifestyle and wear makeup the same day.If you have brown spots — the spots will get darker, come to the surface and come off in 5 to 7 days. The most important thing is that you do not prematurely pick or scrub off the spots before they are ready.
